For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly. Psalm 84:11 The weather outside is indeed frightful. With strong winds, -15°C (5 F) feels much worse than it is. We know that our energy system is extremely vulnerable during this time, so we do our best, putting on extra layers and trying to reduce energy consumption. Last night, before dosing off to sleep, I checked the news one last time. The monitor channels reported 9 strategic bombers taking off from an airfield near Murmansk. They were expected to reach launching points around 5 a.m. The only thing that allowed me to fall asleep after seeing this news was knowing we were still relatively safe in the village at grandma's. When I woke up, I saw dozens of updates from our Air Force. That night, Russia launched 8 drones and 51 missiles of various types from different locations. They attacked objects of critical infrastructure, industrial civil, and military objects. Unfortunately, most of the missiles went through the ballistic trajectory, and those can only be intercepted by Patriot or other modern air-defense systems that we don't have enough. Our defenders shot down all drones and 18 cruise missiles. There was lots of damage in the Khmelnytskyi, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv regions. This first week of 2024 has been pretty intense, but we know why we are ready to endure it. Please continue to pray for deliverance from these bombings and for the protection of the infrastructure systems at this vulnerable time.
