The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God! Psalm 50:23 There seems to be little change on the frontlines. Russia keeps losing about 1,000 soldiers a day, which means the intensity of the fighting does not decrease, which in turn means that it's likely that hundreds of Ukrainian defenders are killed and wounded every day. The temperature remains below freezing, and every time I hurry from the car into a building, I keep thinking about our soldiers in the trenches. These thoughts, along with cloudy days, seem too grim to bear. That’s why I focus on the tasks at hand — not to forget or ignore, but to get rid of this overwhelming feeling of helplessness and see where I can make a difference. Tomorrow is St.Nicholas Day. Traditionally, in the morning, children will look under their pillows to find presents from good old Nicholas. Tonight, our son remembered that he forgot to write a letter to St.Nicholas and asked if it wouldn't be too late to write one today. "I just wanted to ask him to bring us Victory," he said. I wish it were this easy. Pray for physical and spiritual warmth to cover this land. Pray for the killing to stop. Al Akimoff and the Slavic Ministries Team Comments are closed.
